Crazy Texas Tech Upset: How An 8-Team Playoff System Would Look
Posted by Kyle Weidie on November 2, 2008
Unbelievable….Texas Tech fans stormed the field twice after the winning touchdown? Absolute craziness……officials were even taking the goal posts down (preemptively) before the game was “officially” over. After two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, Texas Tech kicking from 7.5 yard line still should have made Bobby Knight ready to choke someone.
After the game was decided, all those fans rushing the field was one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen on a football field. I still can’t believe there hasn’t been a serious injury, or even death, from teammates, fans, etc. piling on a guy after an extreme outcome….at least there hasn’t been an instance documented. Such a weird thing to do….here’s to the hope that at least in basketball, kids who hit game winning shots grow up learning to run straight to the locker room.
All that being said, with the “official” BCS ratings coming out soon, here’s how I would set an 8-team playoff system for college football:
1. Alabama
8. Utah
2. Oklahoma
7. Oklahoma State
3. Penn. State
4. USC
5. Texas Tech
6. Florida
