Some Bulldog Rewards

Mississippi State has cleaned up in the Birmingham News mid-season SEC basketball awards.

Rick Stansbury gets the nod for best coach at the half. Surely there are other good candidates; of those mentioned, Andy Kennedy of Ole Miss and Tennessee’s Bruce Pearl stand out to me. But it’s about time that Stansbury got some props for his job at Mississippi State, especially considering his tenure and 200+ wins.

Jamont Gordon, he gets the first half player of the year. While I’m a little harsh honest about Jamont at times, mostly because of his out of control play and turnovers, the fact is that Mississippi State wouldn’t be good without him. Gordon can pretty much get anywhere he wants against any defender. The only guy who can stop Jamont is himself.

Referees are artists and not scientists. So, I suppose we all must remember that not all art is perfect and opinions on art can vary drastically.
